FIFA confirm if Said Benrahma can leave West Ham United for Lyon after what happened – Fabrizio Romano
Said Benrahma can now leave West Ham and join Lyon after FIFA have sent their validation request for the TMF to be validated.
Fabrizio Romano issued the governing body’s statement after the French club asked them to intervene in the deal.
The Algerian looked set to join Lyon on Deadline Day, but the Hammers’ incompetence stopped it from happening.
Romano relayed the news on Twitter: “Saïd Benrahma case update. Olympique Lyon announce that FIFA have approved their request for the TMF to be validated.
“FA have sent their validation request to FFF in order to resolve the case and complete the Benrahma deal.”
Bizarre
The botched paperwork and subsequent collapse of the deal not only left Lyon and the player disappointed but also raised questions about West Ham’s ability to conduct transfers effectively.
The situation suggests a lack of diligence and organisation within the club, as deadlines were missed and paperwork mishandled, leading to embarrassment for all parties involved.
This irresponsibility has not only disrupted Benrahma’s career trajectory but has also tarnished West Ham’s reputation in the football world.
Furthermore, the allegations of purposeful delay for tactical reasons, as suggested by some, only add to the sense of chaos surrounding the club’s transfer operations. Such behaviour reflects poorly on the Hammers’ integrity and commitment to fair play within the sport.
Even FIFA has ruled in Lyon’s favour and that only goes to show what most neutrals thought about this entire saga.
Rather than making headlines for the right reasons on Deadline Day, the Hammers have been left with egg on their face.
In other West Ham news, David Moyes is now concerned over the temperament of a first-team regular and may decide to axe him after a recent transfer development.
