‘Feel for him’ – Rob Green claims Sebastien Haller unfortunate not to score v Man United

Rob Green has claimed that West Ham United forward Sebastien Haller was unfortunate not to score in the first-half against Manchester United.

Haller went clean through on goal, rounding Dean Henderson only to slip at the vital moment before being able to finish it off.

The Sky Sports pundit and former Hammer claimed that the Ivorian will be desperate to score in the absence of Michail Antonio and that he felt for him when he lost his footing.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ live coverage of the game, Green admitted that Haller was unfortunate not to get his name on the scoresheet.

“I feel for him,” he said.

“He’s desperate, you know the history that he’s had there, he’s crying out for goals and his foot just goes at the wrong moment – it’s really unfortunate.”

There was nothing Haller could do at the vital moment, but before that he did everything right when charging through on goal.

There will be one saving grace for Haller looking at the replays.

Haller was clearly offside in the build-up to the chance, but it wasn’t spotted by either linesman or referee at the London Stadium.

The 26-year-old was superb in the first-half in the absence of Antonio though and was a constant threat with his physicality against the sloppy pairing of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

Haller had been dispossessed 14 times in his three previous starts according to WhoScored, but he improved massively against the Red Devils and was a constant threat.

This is the Haller we need to see more.
