Fabrizio Romano speaks out as Gianluca Scamacca linked with £44.3m West Ham United exit already
West Ham have not spoken to any club about signing Gianluca Scamacca as the player is still yet to pick up new agents, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Reports emerged on Tuesday (28 February) that the Italian striker had been dropped by his agents World Soccer Agency over a breakdown of “trust” as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
Pianeta Milan, a site affiliated with Gazzetta Dello Sport, revealed on 2 March, Scamacca wants a return to Serie A and champions AC Milan are seriously thinking about signing him, but the Hammers are demanding a fee of around “€50million (£44.3m) to let him leave in the summer”.

However, Romano, writing in his latest CaughtOffside substack column, has quashed those rumours revealing that there are no “advanced” or “concrete” talks surrounding Scamacca.
He said: “I’m aware there have been stories linking Gianluca Scamacca with AC Milan but I wouldn’t read too much into them for now. Of course, he’s linked with a return to Italy as he’s Italian and Serie A clubs know him very well.
“I’m sure Milan will sign a new striker next summer, but there’s nothing advanced or concrete for Scamacca yet as he has to pick new agents after leaving his former agent; this is a crucial step, also West Ham have not spoken to any club about Scamacca.”
Convince
Despite Romano’s rejection of the rumours surrounding Scamacca’s future at the London Stadium, it doesn’t take away the fact the Italian hitman has endured a difficult first year in East London, and he may well be having regrets about last summer’s move.
However, considering the player’s stark and considerable potential, West Ham have to convince him he still holds a future at the London Stadium.

Despite the player’s struggles this season, he’s still managed five goals from 13 starts this season and has been out injured recently too. It is clear, the player needs consistency, belief from the manager in his ability and much-needed confidence too, which means there is still a lot for the Italian to achieve at West Ham.
They’ve got to build around him for next season.
