Fabrizio Romano shares new David Moyes exit update at West Ham United
The expectation at West Ham United is now that David Moyes will “definitely” leave the club this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Writing on his Daily Briefing Substack (23 April), the reliable journalist reports that the Hammers are trying to bring in alternative options.
Ruben Amorim and Julen Lopetegui have emerged as targets for the role, but Romano says the race is still open but a decision on Moyes has now been made.
“West Ham are really trying with important proposal and specific project with him [Ruben Amorim] as coach,” he wrote.
“There are also other candidates; Julen Lopetegui is one of them, but the race is open. For David Moyes, the expectation now is definitely for him to leave West Ham in the summer.”
West Ham United make David Moyes sack decision
It’s been a long time coming, but it seems as though the club have finally made the decision to let Moyes leave the club at the end of the season.
Moyes has done a tremendous job since taking over, but his style of play can only take the team so far and they have now seemingly hit that limit under him.
But replacing him is not going to be easy, as they saw with Manuel Pellegrini, and there has to be some serious consideration made towards any potential candidates who can come in.

Lopetegui had great success with Wolves before leaving them on the eve of the season, while Amorim is on the verge of winning a Portuguese league title with Sporting CP so both would be excellent options.
But with a decision on Moyes finally made by the club, they can finally start to plan for the upcoming campaign and what they want to do with the squad which can only be a positive thing.
