Fabrizio Romano issues update on Arsenal amid pursuit of West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice

Arsenal will reportedly sanction the exit of Granit Xhaka after a deal has been agreed to sign Declan Rice from West Ham.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the medical for the 24-year-old will be held this week after negotiations between the two sides have come to an end.

A long-drawn transfer saga which saw teams like Manchester City and Manchester United linked, has now come to an end.

Via Twitter, Romano wrote, “Arsenal are planning for medical tests this week for Declan Rice after reaching final agreement with West Ham tonight. Gunners now expected to give the green light for Xhaka to Bayer Leverkusen and then close also Jurrien Timber deal.”

Rice will be the seventh Hammers player to leave the club this summer.

Good job

West Ham did not let themselves get bullied here and stuck it out right until the end to get the deal they wanted.

They knew that once Manchester City were no longer in the race, it was going to be difficult to demand more money from Arsenal.

After two rejected bids, it was evident that the Gunners will not be making a fourth offer and they had to negotiate the terms of the current offer.

Hopefully, they will get the money as they wanted it in terms of the different instalments and whether or not the add-ons seem attainable.

Now it’s time for money to go the other way as this has to be a summer filled with plenty of reinforcements and David Moyes surely knows that.

It remains to be seen how many players they do end up signing eventually as they need at least six or seven to kick on and push for a top-half finish next season.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are already preparing to cash in on the Declan Rice money as they hold a transfer meeting in London as they’re confident of sealing a £50million signing.
