Fabrizio Romano: Arsenal won’t let Eddie Nketiah leave with West Ham interested
Arsenal will not let Eddie Nketiah leave the Emirates Stadium to join West Ham United this month, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Sky Sports journalist admitted that the Irons were interested in the talented forward, but they will stand no chance in the next three weeks.
Instead, Arsenal and Mikel Arteta look set to evaluate the future of Nketiah at the end of the season, potentially opening the door to an exit then.
Speaking on Sky Sports on Monday, Romano pulled the plug on any potential Irons move for the Gunners sensation this month.
“There were many rumours about Nketiah, also about West Ham,” he said.
“They’re looking for a striker after selling Haller to Ajax, so it’s normal that they are looking for this kind of talent, young strikers.
“Arsenal will not let him leave in this moment, he is not leaving Arsenal – for sure he is staying until the end of the season, then they will decide about his contract.”
More disappointment.
David Moyes has also faced the news that the Hammers have been priced out of a move for Bournemouth forward Josh King today.
Alex Crook has reported on Twitter that West Ham are big fans of the Norweigan international, but waiting until he is a free agent in the summer is more attractive at this moment.
Nketiah could have come to the London Stadium on loan for the rest of the season to offer immediate cover for the loss of Haller, but even that won’t be happening.
The options are getting shorter by the day this month, and both Moyes and the Hammers can’t afford to finish this window without a striker coming in.
