ExWHUemployee: West Ham United may have bid for Keane Lewis-Potter
West Ham United may be one of the three clubs to have launched a bid for Hull City star Keane Lewis-Potter, according to ExWHUemployee.
The reliable source relayed the news that three Premier League clubs had bid for the young winger, with Everton and Newcastle expected to be two of them.
Ex admitted he wouldn’t be surprised if the Hammers were the third club to have tested the water for the England youth international given their previous interest.
Speaking on the latest West Ham Way podcast over on Patreon on Tuesday [07 June], Ex shared that the Irons could have been one of the clubs bidding.
“Keane Lewis-Potter of Hull,” he said. “Apparently, three bids have gone in from Premier League clubs, these clubs are unconfirmed.
“These clubs, I expect one of them is Everton, I wouldn’t be surprised if the other is Newcastle, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we’ve tested the water on him as well.
“I can’t confirm if that’s official, but knowing how interested we were in him in the past, I’d be very surprised if we weren’t one of those teams that have looked into him.”
West Ham enjoyed immense success by signing Jarrod Bowen from Hull, and it looks as though they are trying to replicate that with this deal.
Lewis-Potter has been immense, is younger and has youth international experience, so could be an even safer bet than Bowen was at the time of his arrival at the London Stadium.
David Moyes is always looking for the brightest talent from the Championship and bringing them to the Premier League allows them to express themselves on the biggest stage.
Newcastle and Everton may be the other two teams in the race, but West Ham have the advantage of European football, something that can swing many deals in their way.
It will be interesting to see what happens, with Hull’s Turkish owners already admitting they are willing to be strict over any potential exit and what price it may take for that to happen.
This is certainly one to watch with more news to follow.
