ExWHUemployee: West Ham United could look at loan-to-buy transfer for Layvin Kurzawa

West Ham United could explore a loan-to-buy deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa this summer, according to ExWHUemployee.

The reliable source has shared that the Hammers also have younger targets in mind for the left-back role, with the Frenchman now nearing 30 years old.

Competition is wanted at left-back with Aaron Cresswell picking up numerous suspensions last season, leaving David Moyes short on options in that area.

Writing on the official West Ham Way Patreon page on Tuesday, [12 July] Ex shared the major update on the hunt for a new defender at the London Stadium.

“A name that has been mentioned by us before and seems to be circulating again is the French international defender at PSG, Layvin Marc Kurzawa,” he wrote.

“The club could explore a loan to buy option with the player although it is thought we have a number of younger targets for this postion too as Kurzawa is 29 and will be 30 in a couple of months.”

Smart.

This could be a very low-risk move by Moyes and the Irons.

Bringing Kurzawa in on loan and then making it an option to buy, rather than obligation means that he has a season to prove himself at the London Stadium and if he doesn’t then it is goodbye.

Paris Saint-Germain aren’t likely to say no either and have negotiated with the Hammers before, with Alphonse Areola recently turning his loan spell into a permanent move.

One problem would be that Kurzawa would likely want a guarantee over his playing time, and with Cresswell first choice, would an experienced option want to be sitting on the bench?

With West Ham United having plenty of European football to offer though, there will be chances for regular rotation and that could seal the deal.

It will be interesting to see if anything comes of these younger options, but with Kurzawa supposedly looking to swap agents recently, he is looking for a way out of Paris.
