ExWHUemployee: West Ham scout Kilmarnock defender Charlie McArthur

West Ham have reportedly scouted Kilmarnock defender Charlie McArthur as they’re looking to sign him this summer.

According to ExWHUemployee, the Hammers scouts took a look at the 16-year-old last week and he had a good game.

It’s understood that Wolves and Brighton are among the clubs keen on securing his services.

Speaking on the recent episode of the West Ham Way Podcast, Ex said, “Speaking of centre-backs, we’ve scouted a guy called Charlie McArthur last week. He’s 16, 6 ft. 4in and is highly rated.

“He’s played really well for Kilmarnock and you wouldn’t think he’s 16 as he looks like an experienced centre-back.

“Wolves and Brighton have also shown an interest in him.”

“We’re really interested in him and think he can be a good purchase for future years.”

Worth signing

McArthur is a quality young defender who’s making his senior debut at the tender age of 16.

That shows just how far ahead he is of people in his age group.

The quality in Scotland clearly isn’t up to the level of England, but it still is a remarkable achievement.

The Hammers need defenders not just for the first team but also for the academy.

As they’re scouting him, it’s pretty clear that they want to make a move for him.

However, they will now have to act quickly as a number of clubs are believed to be keen on his services.
