ExWHUemployee: West Ham have resumed talks over Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma

West Ham United have resumed talks with Chelsea centre-back Kurt Zouma and a move could be back on, according to ExWHUemployee.

Both parties had gone their separate ways after an agreement could not be found, but it appears a deal could now be struck.

West Ham manager David Moyes wants a centre-back heading into the new season, and the France international, 26, has been his first choice.

Writing on the West Ham Way Patreon, Ex said: “On an interesting turn of events, I’m hearing that talks for Zouma had resumed and that the transfer could still be back on.

“It is thought that West Ham went in with one last offer and that this offer could be enough to get it over the line.

“The talks will continue today, and with Milenkovic (still agent issues with that deal) but this could be yet another interesting twist in the story as Zouma was always the preferred choice. The deal with Zouma could progress further now.”

Huge boost

While Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic is also a fine option, agreeing a deal is proving difficult due to the demands of his agent.

Zouma is Moyes’ preferred option as he has proven himself in the Premier League and for the French national team.

He is clearly surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge and has handed us a massive boost.

We thought the move was off after West Ham started looking elsewhere for reinforcements, but the update from Ex is huge and we cannot wait for a deal to be wrapped up.

With Europa League football available, Zouma has a chance to prove himself on a bigger stage and stake a claim for a starting berth in the national team ahead of next summer’s World Cup should a move to West Ham go through.

Signing him gives us quality depth at the back, and that increases our chances of impressing again next season.

We need a top centre-back for the new campaign, and Zouma is surely one.
