ExWHUemployee shares update on West Ham United quest to sign Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka

West Ham are reportedly interested in signing a right-back in January and have identified Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka as an option.

According to ExWHUemployee, the Hammers are likely to consider a move for the Englishman if he’s being made available on loan.

The 25-year-old has struggled to make an impact since his £45million + £5million (add-ons) move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2019. [Telegraph]

Ex said on the West Ham Way podcast at 06:30, “Wan-Bissaka is someone we’ve definitely had an interest in. I think we’d prefer a loan deal because obviously, he hasn’t played a huge amount for Manchester United in recent weeks. But a loan deal if it’s available, is something we would probably consider.”

Better options out there

Even though it’s a loan, there are better right-backs out there than Wan-Bissaka and West Ham need to broaden their horizons.

It’s clear that they need someone in that department desperately but we’re not sure if the 25-year-old is an upgrade on the current options.

If David Moyes was playing a back three and needed a right-sided centre-back then Wan-Bissaka would be ideal for him.

He’s good on the tackle, is quick and is strong enough to shrug off attackers.

However, he’s a major liability going forward and has no cross on him along with being a below-par dribbler.

Moyes likes his full-backs to run up and down the pitch and play crosses to the target men – something the Manchester United player will not be able to do.

We’re hoping that nothing comes of this and that the Hammers pursue other options and not the player they wanted in the summer as well.
