ExWHUemployee shares if Dimitri Payet is likely to make West Ham return
West Ham are reportedly unlikely to reunite with 2015/16 Hammer of the Year Dimitri Payet this summer despite links with a return.
According to ExWHUemployee, the Hammers hierarchy are still admirers, but his wages may be too high to bring him back to the club.
Since leaving London Stadium in 2017, he moved to Marseille and has since been at the Ligue 1 side.

Ex wrote, “It has now emerged in reports that Payet may want One more Dance at the club. I put this question to one of my top transfer sources and his response was ‘He is a great player but 35 now, though he just had a great season, we have Benhrama and Cornet in that position and his wages would be huge’.
“I take from this that there is a loose interest if the finances were right but that really the deal is very unlikely.”
Too much baggage
There’s no reason why West Ham would want to re-sign Payet given how he left the club on bad terms five years ago.
In the final few months of his time in London, he refused to play for the club and kept pushing for a move until he finally got it.
This was unacceptable behaviour from the most talented player at the club who just got too big for his boots at the time.
At 35, there’s very little he could offer the Hammers, especially when Maxwel Cornet has just been signed a few weeks ago.
If David Moyes did want to bring back Payet, it would’ve made sense if he was willing to demand low wages and would be signed on free.
However, the fact that he’s still on contract at Marseille makes things all the more difficult and they’ll be better off pursuing other options.
