ExWHUemployee: One West Ham United email could change everything in Declan Rice saga

ExWHUemployee has suggested “one email” or “phone call” could change everything for West Ham and Declan Rice as speculation over his future goes into overdrive.

Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio (Twitter, 22 June) claimed that Manchester City were in “advanced talks” over a potential move for the England star.

Writing in his latest Patreon update, Ex has claimed that no official bid has been lodged by Pep Guardiola’s men.

West Ham

“At the moment, the only club who have officially registered a bid are Arsenal and they have submitted two,” wrote Ex (23 June).

“There have been informal discussions with other clubs but until these turn into concrete offers they do not mean anything. Of course, this can all change with one email or phone call so we will keep our ear to the ground.”

Conclusion

The sooner this saga reaches a conclusion the better for everyone concerned.

Rice has been a superb servant for a number of years, but the time is right for him to test himself at the top end of European football.

It feels as if the equation is fairly simple. Arsenal have to match Manchester City’s price when it comes to the 24-year-old. The longer the wait, the more chance there is of the Gunners missing out. David Sullivan’s wildest dreams are coming to fruition.

West Ham

A bidding war seems to be in the offing and that’s exactly what the West Ham owner wanted. It will allow the Hammers to land Rice’s true value and reinvest into the squad adequately during the summer window.

At least one top-quality midfielder will have to arrive to ease the blow of losing the England star. David Moyes will probably be looking for multiple recruits in that area moving forward.

Manchester City would be the smartest move for Rice in terms of career prospects. He’s almost guaranteed to win trophies and will develop tenfold under Pep Guardiola’s stewardship.
