ExWHUemployee: Kurt Zouma is officially a West Ham player
Kurt Zouma will officially become a West Ham United player and join the squad after the international break, according to ExWHUemployee.
An issue with his medical had delayed the deal for the Chelsea centre-back from being completed, and there were fears a move could fall through.
However, the 26-year-old France international is set to join the Hammers, and an official announcement could be made anytime soon.
Writing on the West Ham Way Patreon while providing the latest on Zouma, the trusted Hammers insider said: “I can confirm that Kurt Zouma will officially become a West Ham player and meet up with the squad after the international break! This is great news as David Moyes finally gets his man.”
Hammers boss David Moyes had the Frenchman lined up as his first-choice signing at centre-back all summer, and finally getting a deal done would be relieving.
Zouma’s knee was flagged up during his medical held in France, but he clearly is fit as fiddle having not had any injury issues for a while now.
West Ham were held to a 2-2 draw at the London Stadium today by Crystal Palace, with Craig Dawson all over the place in the second half.
The Irons clearly need a top defender alongside Angelo Ogbonna at the back, and they have finally gotten one in Zouma.
The Chelsea man brings the needed quality and experience to the table, and landing him surely helps improve the West Ham defence.
With Dawson and Issa Diop now set to provide quality cover and competition, Moyes would be glad with the situation of his defence as his side looks to mount strong challenges in four different competitions this term.
Having settled their lack of depth at the back, the Hammers will now look to strengthen in attack, and some new faces could come in through the door in the coming days.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers want compromise to push major signing over the line.
