ExWHUemployee dispels Declan Rice West Ham training myth

ExWHUemployee has moved to dispel some online myths surrounding West Ham midfielder Declan Rice and his whereabouts on Monday.

The Irons insider, speaking via his Patreon on Monday evening [02/08/21], has shot down suggestions that the 22-year-old England international was not present at training on the day he was due back.

He said: “I am not sure why this is the latest meltdown on Twitter but I can confirm that Declan was at training today and there is nothing to panic about.

“I will try and do another update tonight or tomorrow. Nothing to get majorly excited about at the moment, have sent some texts though.”

He’s back

There doesn’t appear to be anything new to see here – just the usual online fears sparked by very little in the way of substantiation.

August 2 was pencilled in as Rice’s date to return from his international exertions and extended break, and according to Ex the Irons star has done exactly that.

It’s not clear what caused fans and followers of the club distress in relation to Rice – perhaps it was merely down to the fact that there was no sighting of him on the club’s media channels – but it has been quickly shot down.

Ex is generally considered as one of the most reliable sources when it comes to reporting news in and around West Ham, so we’re happy to take his word for it that Rice resumed training on Monday.

There has been mass speculation surrounding his future at the London Stadium this summer, with his old club Chelsea always linked with a move.

That probably goes a long way to explaining why people are so quick to jump on the idea that he may be AWOL from training, particularly after Tottenham Hotspur captain Harry Kane did exactly that on Monday.

However, there appears to be no need to panic from our end, at least for now.

In other West Ham news, the Irons want to sign this Euro 2020 centre-mid who broke a top 5 league transfer record in 2017.
