ExWHUemployee: David Moyes and West Ham contract announcement is imminent

An announcement confirming a new contract for David Moyes at West Ham is expected soon, according to Irons insider ExWHUemployee.

Moyes has been the mastermind behind West Ham’s assault on the European places this season as they secured a Europa League berth on the final day, after beating Southampton 3-0 at the London Stadium on Sunday.

His contract expires in the summer, though there is the option to extend it by a year. [Independent]

Writing on his personal Twitter profile, ExWHUemployee claims confirmation of fresh terms is imminent.

“It’s very close to being [sorted] and should be announced soon,” he said.

It’s the news we were desperate to hear – the second coming of Moyes is set to be extended.

His first spell in charge may have ended in disappointment as the board neglected to offer him a new contract in 2017, but his recent reign has proven he is a top manager and that is set to be rewarded by GSB.

We’ll hold our hands up – we didn’t see Moyes taking us to the levels we have been at this season.

He was greeted with an air of suspicion by many Irons supporters who harangued the board for their lack of ambition after dispensing with the services of Manuel Pellegrini in December 2019.

But he led us to Premier League safety in the 2012/20 season and now he’s led us to the Europa League after a brief flirtation with the Champions League spots.

The hope is that he will now be backed in the summer transfer market and we can maintain our challenge for the European spots next season and make a fist of it in continental competition.

Moyes might be around for a long time if he does that.
