ExWHUemployee: Ben Johnson mooted to return for West Ham v Lyon

West Ham defender Ben Johnson could return for their Europa League clash against Lyon this Thursday.

According to ExWHUemployee, the Englishman felt his hamstring even after training on Saturday and thus could not play over the weekend.

However, he has been recovering and is in contention to be available for selection.

Speaking on the West Ham Way podcast, Ex said, “Ben Johnson felt his hamstring a little when he was playing for England’s Under-21s and he trained on Friday and yesterday (Saturday) but at the end of training he spoke to Moyes and said it felt a little bit tight. Hopefully, he’ll be available to start the Lyon game.”

Great news

Johnson has been having an unbelievable season for the Hammers.

His performances have been at such a high level that the likes of Vladimir Coufal are having to contend with a spot on the bench.

There have been rumours of him being linked with moves to Tottenham and Arsenal but he’s seeming to be happy at the club.

Hopefully, he puts pen to paper to a new deal and this can be put to bed once and for all.

It remains to be seen whether or not Moyes does put him in the eleven against Lyon, but given the magnitude of the game, he really should.
