Exit-linked West Ham United ace Gianluca Scamacca sends message to Declan Rice after Arsenal move

West Ham forward Gianluca Scamacca has sent Declan Rice a message on Twitter after he left the club to join Arsenal.

The England international’s move to the Hammers’ Premier League rivals for a reported £105million fee plus add-ons was confirmed on 15 July.

Scamacca has also been linked with a move away from the London Stadium this summer with Sky in Italy claiming on 13 June that Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto wants to sign him on loan.

Following the news of Rice’s exit, Scamacca posted on Twitter on 15 July saying: “Legend on and off the pitch. Good luck Capitano”.

Popular

There is no doubt that Rice was extremely popular within the West Ham squad, not just in his role as a captain but also because of his charismatic personality off the field.

Scamacca clearly had a lot of time for the former Hammer and he will be one of many people associated with the club that will miss having him around the place.

The leadership he showed will be very hard to replace, so it is down to some of the senior figures to step up and fill the void and for the club to try and get more players with great leadership qualities through the door.

If the Italian forward remains in East London despite the ongoing uncertainty around his future, then he will certainly be looking to have more of an impact next season and push to be leading from the front on a regular basis.

His performance in the 6-2 victory over Perth Glory on 15 July, where he scored a first-half penalty, showed that he hasn’t ruled out being at the club for the upcoming campaign.

In other West Ham news, one member of staff has been handed a new contract following his impact last season.
