Everton vs West Ham announcement made that could spell the end for Graham Potter

West Ham travel to Everton on Monday with the hopes of winning their second game of the season.

Graham Potter’s side are struggling at both ends of the pitch, with just five goals scored and 13 conceded in five Premier League games.

Off the back of West Ham’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace and continued protests against the Hammers’ hierarchy, they certainly need a win to alleviate some of the concerns that continue to linger.

Now, the Premier League have made a new announcement for the clash, which will damage hopes of Potter avoiding the sack at West Ham.

Sam Barrott set to take charge of Everton vs West Ham

For the first time since West Ham’s 2-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest on 18 May, Sam Barrott will officiate the Hammers’ encounter with the Toffees.

The Premier League confirmed this weekend’s refereeing appointments in an announcement on their official website.

Barrott is one of the least experienced referees in the Premier League, and the Hammers have struggled with him in the middle in the past.

Potter’s side have yet to have any decisions go against them this season, and were even handed a lifeline in West Ham’s defeat against Tottenham, with Cristian Romero’s first-half header ruled out for an alleged foul.

They also had just two errors go against them last season, according to the Premier League’s Key Match Incidents panel.

Therefore, Potter can’t blame the officials, with Nuno Espirito Santo ready to replace him at West Ham should their poor form continue.

West Ham’s record with Sam Barrott in charge

Barrott has been an official Premier League referee since 2023, having been a match official for 20 top-flight matches during the 2024-2025 season.

The Hammers have been refereed by the 32-year-old four times, with two losses, one win, and a draw in each of those games.

Results when refereed by Barrott:

In November 2023, during a match at Burnley, Luca Koleosho claimed he was brought down by Vladimir Coufal.

Barrott stood by his call of no penalty, with Sky Sports pundit Sue Smith agreeing with the decision.

Equally, in the defeat to Chelsea, West Ham were denied a penalty when Crysencio Summerville was held by Wesley Fofana in the box.

Should the Hammers struggle again under Barrott on Monday, Potter’s time in East London could come to an end.
