Edson Alvarez spotted in West Ham United training today after injury concern

Edson Alvarez has been spotted training for West Ham after there had been concerns raised about his fitness.

Football Daily tweeted Sky Sports’ video on Wednesday (20 September) of the Hammers squad preparing for the Europa League clash against Backa Topola on Thursday (21 September), with the Mexican international joining in with the drills.

It will come as a relief for the Irons after the 25-year-old midfielder was substituted following what looked to be a leg injury in the 68th minute in the defeat to Manchester City on Saturday (16 September).

Sigh of relief

This development will come as positive news to West Ham fans after there had been concerns that Alvarez could be set to miss some time after going off against Man City.

The Hammers were drawing 1-1 with the Premier League champions when he was forced off the field before eventually falling to a 3-1 defeat.

The midfield didn’t look half as good without the Mexican’s presence and it would have been a huge loss if he was to be sidelined through injury.

West Ham

Although it appears as though Alvarez is fit and ready to go, he will not be available against Backa Topola on Thursday after picking up a red card for Ajax in the Europa League against Union Berlin in February.

That means he will have a few more days to fully recover if he has been feeling it on the back of the international break, with our next game in the Premier League coming against Liverpool on Sunday (24 September).

In other West Ham news, one player could be set to leave the club in January after transfer news has emerged.
