Edson Alvarez shares ‘quit’ message after West Ham United defeat v Liverpool

Edson Alvarez has shared a message on Instagram after West Ham fell to defeat against Liverpool on Sunday (24 September).

The Mexican international returned to the Irons’ starting lineup after being suspended for the midweek victory over Backa Topola, playing 90 minutes in the 3-1 loss at Anfield.

The 25-year-old midfielder posted a picture of himself on his Instagram story after the game on Sunday, adding the captain “Quit is not an option. Together,” including a heart and Hammers emojis.

Bounce back

It was always going to be a difficult game against Liverpool after numerous West Ham sides have struggled at Anfield over the years.

While the confidence would have been high heading into the match following a promising start to the season, anything other than a defeat would have probably been seen as a bonus.

But we weren’t quite clinical enough on the day to come away from Merseyside with anything and now is the time to bounce back after a couple of defeats in the Premier League against currently the two best sides in the country.

West Ham

A victory over Lincoln City on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup and against Sheffield United at the London Stadium on Saturday would quickly pick the spirits back up.

As Alvarez pointed out in his post, quitting is not an option and that is certainly not what this Hammers side will do as we look to compete higher up in the table this season.
