Edin Terzic development emerges amid West Ham United sack pressure for Julen Lopetegui

Edin Terzic is prioritising a move to the Premier League amid links with West Ham United, according to Sami Mokbel.

The Daily Mail journalist reported via the newspaper’s website on Thursday (31 October) that the German-Croatian tactician is ready to take on a new job, preferably in England, after leaving Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

Mobkel added that Terzic’s agents are already looking for opportunities in the Premier League. This comes amid interest from West Ham, who have reportedly identified him as a replacement for Julen Lopetegui (Sunday Mirror).

Manchester United have also been mooted as a potential destination for the 42-year-old after Erik ten Hag’s sacking, but they have agreed a deal to sign Ruben Amorim instead (The Athletic).

Edin Terzic’s Premier League stance puts West Ham United in a tough spot

The Irons have a clear chance of hiring Terzic, with the manager prioritising a move to England and Manchester United hiring Amorim.

However, it also puts them in a tough spot as they would have to make a decision regarding Lopetegui soon to prevent someone else from poaching the former Dortmund boss.

Lopetegui’s start to life as the Hammers manager has left a lot to be desired, with the team sitting 13th in the league with three wins in nine.

However, he retains the support of the West Ham board (Sami Mokbel) despite being under increasing pressure at the London Stadium.

The 2-1 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League last weekend would have also been a boost to Lopetegui’s confidence.

He showed that he is prepared to make brave decisions to keep his job in East London, dropping Alphonse Areola from the starting lineup and then making a triple substitution at half-time that saw Lucas Paqueta hooked.

While Terzic would seemingly be tempted by the idea of joining the Hammers, it would perhaps make more sense for the club to stick with Lopetegui for now.
