Early Southampton team news v West Ham United in Premier League - Injury Expert

Three members of Ruben Selles’ Southampton squad have been “ruled out” of the upcoming Premier League showdown against West Ham United on Sunday (2 April), according to injury expert Ben Dinnery.

Writing for the Premier Injuries website, Dinnery shared that centre-back Jan Bednarek had a 50% status and a potential return date of 2 April from his abdominal injury.

Juan Larios will miss the match against David Moyes’ side with a hamstring injury that has no return date, while Valentino Livramento is “ruled out” with a muscular injury.

The Saints’ impressive centre-back Armel Bella-Kotchap is also “ruled out” of the relegation showdown at the London Stadium due to a dislocated shoulder he picked up in the 3-3 draw against Tottenham shortly before the international break.

Six-pointer

It is 18th plays 20th when Southampton travel to West Ham United this Sunday in what can only be billed as a relegation six-pointer.

Both sides will realise that this match presents a brilliant opportunity to climb the Premier League table and place a statement of intent on the other sides lingering in and around the relegation zone.

However, without Bella-Kotchap and Bednarek at the back, Selles’ side may be a little more vulnerable than usual.

Moyes will surely know that this presents a golden opportunity for the fox-like Danny Ings to cause havoc and get his name amongst the goals in this crunch clash.

Despite currently sitting in 18th position upon the Premier League’s resumption after the international break, the Hammers only sit three points off 12th-placed Crystal Palace.

With a healthy goal difference of -10, compared to the teams around them, West Ham can give their survival chances a major boost this weekend.
