Done deal: West Ham United complete first summer signing as Sean Moore pens three-year deal

West Ham United have completed the signature of Sean Moore from Northern Ireland Football League (NIFL) club Cliftonville.

The 17-year-old forward will initially link up with the Hammers Under-21s for the 2023/24 season, as confirmed by the official West Ham website.

Moore was named in the NIFL Premiership Team of the Year and won the NI Football Writers’ Association Young Player of the Year award for his displays last season.

“West Ham United is delighted to confirm the signing of promising forward Sean Moore from NIFL Premiership side Cliftonville,” as per the official West Ham website.

“Moore joins the Hammers on a three-year professional contract until June 2026, and the 17-year-old will initially link up with the Club’s U21 squad for the 2023/24 season.”

Exciting signing

The name Moore obviously has grand connotations at West Ham, with the new arrival at the club set to have a fine Hammers career if he can come anywhere near close to the heights that legendary figure Bobby Moore reached during his time in East London.

The youngster obviously has a long, long way to go to reach those levels of legendary, but he already boasts a superb career at the young age of 17.

The forward arrives with high expectations after his fantastic exploits in Northern Ireland last season, having only signed his first professional contract with Cliftonville last summer.

His former club placed a lot of responsibility on his young shoulders, but Moore handled it expertly as he made 31 league appearances, scoring five goals.

The Hammers will now ease the youngster into life in East London, with the attacker set to start out in the club’s youth team before hopefully working his way into the senior side in the near future.

In other West Ham news, one exit-bound Hammers attacker has headed to Sunderland ahead of a potential transfer to the Black Cats.
