Don Hutchison names West Ham keeper Fabianski in TOTW for penalty save v Chelsea

Don Hutchison has named West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski in his Team of the Week after he saved Jorginho’s penalty.

The Hammers may have lost the game 1-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, but the Pole did enough throughout the contest to get his name in the top XI.

However, a Burnley fan believed that Nick Pope kept a clean sheet in an important game, so he deserved to be in it.

Speaking on Premier League Fanzone, Hutchison, a BT Sport pundit, said, “Fabianski was terrific. He made that important penalty save.”

To which the Burnley fan responded, “But he didn’t keep a clean sheet or win the game. Nick Pope was exceptional v Wolves.”

Hutchison then snapped back, “Yes, but he didn’t save a penalty against Chelsea.”

Spot on

Fabianski truly had a special game for the Hammers and kept them in the game against the Blues.

Even though he didn’t keep a clean sheet, the quality of opposition they faced was superior to that of Burnley.

Sure, Pope had a great game but Fabianksi had an immaculate one and merits his place in the Team of the Week.

The Serb is likely to stay on at the London Stadium for another year and performances like this one prove that it’s the right thing to do.

He deserves another season as the club’s number one as he’s one of their best goalkeepers in the Premier League era.
