Doctor assesses West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek facial injury
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at West Ham...
West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek is not expected to be ruled out of any games due to a facial injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The Czech Republic international injured his forehead over the break and pictures emerged of how painful it must have been for him.
However, he had stitches put and continued playing and even featured for the Hammers over the weekend but may require further treatment if it gets aggravated.

Speaking exclusively with West Ham Zone, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said:
“He got caught a good one there across the forehead!
“It’s a nasty cut across the forehead and his comments align with elite football – they figured out that he can play with the options available to him.
“He got stitches and was able to play even on international duty.
“The best case is that there’s no further issue and the worst case would be that the cut opens up or gets hit again which would require further treatment.”

The 28-year-old has once again become a key player for David Moyes and has found himself a place in a more advanced role.
With Declan Rice, Soucek often used to play deeper, but this season, he’s predominantly been used in an attacking midfield role.
He’s even scored four goals and provided an assist in 12 Premier League games which is a healthy return from him this term.
In other West Ham news, a BBC pundit has admitted that he’ll come out of retirement just to play with a West Ham star after what he did recently.
