Denis Zakaria ‘in contention’ to face West Ham United after injury scare
Chelsea summer-signing Denis Zakaria is now in contention to face West Ham United on Saturday after returning to full training, according to Football London.
Injury expert Ben Dinnery had initially ruled the Switzerland international out of the fixture at the London Stadium on Saturday (11 February).
The 26-year-old, who has been referred to as a “powerhouse” (Bundesliga.com, 2018), is now back in training alongside Croatian international Mateo Kovacic (Football London, 10 February).

“Graham Potter has been boosted once again by the return of two key players to full training. Mateo Kovacic and Denis Zakaria are both in contention to face West Ham this week after returning from their respective injuries,” they wrote.

West Ham have picked up in recent weeks, with the win over Everton and the draw against Newcastle United. However, with Leeds and Everton both sacking their managers, it’s absolutely essential the Irons continue to pick up points.
Their relegation rivals are likely to see an improvement in form due to new managers taking the reins and if the Hammers aren’t careful, they could well be left behind. Chelsea are there for the taking. Graham Potter’s side have endured a tough run of late and are still getting used to the influx of new additions.

They still have plenty of top-class individuals, but they’re still adapting and not playing to their potential at present. Although a point on paper would seem a good result, this is a match the Hammers need to go out and win. Leeds and Everton both have tricky fixtures over the weekend, which could mean three points makes a huge difference for the Hammers in their fight against relegation.
