West Ham coach reveals what squad really thinks about Julen Lopetegui
Troy Deeney has revealed that the players at West Ham United are “fully on board” with Julen Lopetegui after what Edu Rubio told him while they were on a course.
The Hammers currently sit 14th in the Premier League table and are a fair distance away from where their pre-season ambitions would have been.
Deeney, while live on talkSPORT (22 November, 12:56) shared that West Ham technical coach Rubio doesn’t believe they’ve lost the dressing room despite the pressure mounting on Lopetegui.
“If they’d have lost the dressing room, that’s where there would have been concern, the players are fully on board with them,” Deeney said.
“But for them, they feel like they’ve got the players on [their] side and obviously that’s why they’re going to continue to work so we’ll have to see how the future holds out.”

For what feels like the longest time now, the future of Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium has been questioned.
The Hammers have massively underperformed this season so it comes as no surprise to see fans and pundits alike questioning how much longer the Spaniard can keep hold of his job.
While there’s still plenty of time left in the season for Lopetegui to rectify the Hammers’ poor form and perhaps even get them into the European places by the end of the season, fans need a lot more from their team.
If things continue as they are, with things such as Lopetegui leaving out his summer signings from his starting XI such as Crysencio Summerville, it’s hard to see why David Sullivan should still back him.
Only time will tell what the future holds but with the several candidates already on the Hammers’ shortlist, Lopetegui will no doubt be worried about his future, despite what Deeney was told.
