Declan Rice seen fuming at Tomas Soucek after footage emerges from West Ham United v Everton

West Ham captain Declan Rice was seen fuming at his teammate Tomas Soucek in the 1-0 loss against Everton on Sunday.

The Hammers’ Premier League season has not gotten off to the best possible start as they suffered yet another defeat and are in the relegation zone.

Footage has emerged from the Toffees game which shows Soucek not taking the option to play the ball forward but instead choosing to pass it behind which almost saw the opposition capitalising on it in the final third.

Via Twitter, West Ham Central shared this moment from the second half of the game.

Time for axe?

Soucek’s performances for the last year or so have been average, to say the least, and there is a growing worry that he’s not up to that level anymore.

In fact, his game appears to have declined and David Moyes will certainly not be happy with what he’s seeing from a player he could once bet his house on.

The time has come to give Flynn Downes a regular starting berth or maybe even asking Lucas Paqueta to play in a double pivot with Rice.

This could either mean bringing in Said Benrahma or Manuel Lanzini to play as a 10 and maybe even moving to a back three and playing a 3-5-2 to ensure that Michail Antonio and Gianluca Scamacca can both play in the same team.

A 3-4-3 could also be on the cards as Antonio can play as an inside forward and add to the Hammers’ goal threat.

However, for Soucek, we fear that he will not be a regular once football resumes from the international break and there will be few who can make a solid case for his inclusion anymore.
