Declan Rice reacts on Twitter after West Ham United loss v Chelsea
Declan Rice took to Twitter to vent his frustration for a poor VAR decision after West Ham United lost against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Hammers lost 2-1 away from home in the London derby on Saturday (3 September), where the visitors were denied a goal in the 90th minute, which Rice described as “shambles”.
David Moyes described the incident as “scandalous”, and suggested that he finds it “incredibly difficult” to understand why the decision didn’t go in their favour.
Rice wrote on Twitter: “That’s up there with one of the worst VAR decisions made since it’s come into the game. Shambles.”
The England midfielder also replied to a tweet from Adrian Durham.
Furious
The Hammers had thought that equalised in the 90th minute after Maxwel Cornet had put the ball into the net, thanks to a mistake from Edouard Mendy.
The referee, Andrew Madley, consulted the pitchside monitor and then ruled Jarrod Bowen had fouled the Chelsea goalkeeper in the build-up.
It was an end-to-end fight and a thrilling game. Michail Antonio scored for the Hammers to give them the lead but the Blues restored parity through Ben Chilwell.

Kai Havertz came from the bench to score with a clinical finish from Chilwell’s cross.
Cornet was superb during the game. He nearly scored a late equaliser for the visitors but saw his header come back off the post.
However, the quality of the game was marred by a poor decision by VAR. Rice has been spot on here. The technology is there to help the teams, not to rob them of their points.
