Declan Rice discusses his West Ham future with Gary Neville on The Overlap

Declan Rice has revealed that he wants to ‘win it all’ during his career, when speaking to Gary Neville on The Overlap about his West Ham future.

The Hammers ace has been linked with a nine-figure move away from the club, with all of Chelsea, Manchester United and Man City linked with a move for the 23-year-old [Telegraph].

But while West Ham remain in a strong position to negotiate any potential transfer as he has two-years on his contract remaining plus a club-option of a third year, whether he will be allowed to leave is unclear.

Neville had Rice as a guest on his Youtube series “The Overlap” in the most recent episode and asked the England international about his future, with Rice answering honestly that he wants to win trophies.

“The main one for me is, I’ve always said it, I don’t want to have a career where I’ve not won nothing,” he said.

“I’ve grown up as a kid and seen all the top players win big trophies, the Premier League and the Champions League. Me as a football fan and as a player, I want to win the best stuff.

“I want to win the Premier League, I want to lift that trophy. I want to win the Champions League. I want to win the FA Cups and the League Cups. Even stuff with England, I want to win it all. As a footballer if you’ve not got that ambition then why are you playing? They’re the best moments of your life.

“I definitely want to have those experiences of winning trophies and being the best I can be.”

Public

Much like Harry Kane last summer, Rice’s future looks set to become a public affair between club and player.

It’s clear that Rice wants to play at the very highest level and while the Hammers are performing especially well this season under Moyes, the chances of them doing that regularly are low.

That means a move to a fellow Premier League club is likely at some point, but West Ham are adamant they won’t let him go cheap.

His current contract won’t expire until he is 26, which would mean half of his career has passed by where he likely won’t have been at the top level for his club football.

Unfortunately that’s not likely to be good enough for Rice, which means he’ll need to convince a club to pay the super-high asking price that West Ham want or he’ll need to force his way out.

Either way, it’s going to be a long summer as an Irons fan with constant rumours doing the rounds.
