Declan Rice and Mason Mount could reunite at Liverpool with West Ham United exit mooted on talkSPORT

Dean Saunders believes Liverpool would be a “different team” if they were to reunite close pals Mason Mount and West Ham’s Declan Rice this summer, amid Anfield links with the Hammers star.

The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano claimed through his personal Twitter account [5 February) that “all parties” now accept Rice is likely to leave East London in the summer.

And according to TEAMtalk [6 January] journalist Graeme Bailey, Chelsea are the favourites to secure his services in the January transfer window but Liverpool will still look to pursue his services this summer and are also mooted [Daily Mail, 2 March] to be interested in signing Mount too.

Saunders speaking live on talkSPORT breakfast [3 March] believes the Kop should reunite the two England stars at Anfield this summer.

He said: “If you put Mason Mount in Liverpool’s midfield with Declan Rice, they would be a different team!”

Presenter Alan Brazil then responded by saying: “Well well well, Mount and Rice together, good friends as well aren’t they? It could happen somewhere, could it be Liverpool?”

Enticing

With Liverpool desperately short on quality in their midfield weaponry right now, signing both Rice and Mount this summer could be really enticing for the Reds and Jurgen Klopp.

While Rice is expected to leave the Hammers which comes as a huge blow, the club and their fans will certainly have no qualms about their star man joining Liverpool rather than any of their capital neighbours in Chelsea or Arsenal.

West Ham

However, the 24-year-old will be a superb fit wherever he ends up this summer.

But with the Hammers in desperate need of a rebuild themselves at the end of the campaign, they are well within their right to demand a huge fee for their most prized asset.

Anything lower than £100m will be considered a bargain for any potential suitors so the East Londoners must ensure the fee is above that figure if they can.
