Dean Saunders shares Declan Rice transfer verdict, West Ham United ace would ‘definitely’ improve Arsenal and Liverpool

Dean Saunders believes West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice would “definitely” improve Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

But the talkSPORT pundit also noted that the Hammers captain would also make Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool better as they look to get back to their best next season.

The West Ham star, who has made almost 250 appearances in claret and blue, looks set to leave the London Stadium in the upcoming summer transfer window.

“If I’m Arsenal, I’m thinking he’s definitely going to improve our team, if you put him in Arsenal’s team, and Arsenal are probably the nearest to Man City at the moment,” Saunders said live on talkSPORT.

“But Liverpool, I’m interested in seeing what they’re going to do because he gets in their team as well.

“He’d definitely make their team better. They need a couple of players, and they need one exactly like him, of that ilk.”

Certain upgrade

Rice definitely represents an upgrade on some of the options that are available to Arsenal boss Arteta and Liverpool’s Klopp.

Both managers would be very foolish to say no to the addition of Rice, who could help the clubs bolster their midfield options.

Whether or not those two could afford him, however, is another matter entirely, with the West Ham player’s price tag seemingly increasing as the days go on.

That fee could rise even further if the captain is able to help drive his team to silverware when they take on Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final on Wednesday (7 June).

Hammers fans would be absolutely gutted to see Rice leave the London Stadium, but they are also fully aware that he deserves to be playing in Europe’s premier competition, as opposed to the Europa Conference League.

It would be the perfect farewell though if he was to lift that European trophy high in Prague on Wednesday.
