Dean Ashton raves over new West Ham recruit

The West Ham United supporters finally had some good news on deadline day as the club announced the signing of forward Jarrod Bowen from Hull City.

The 23-year-old signed a five-and-a-half-year contract at the London Stadium, bringing manager David Moyes some much-needed firepower.

The Englishman has bagged 17 goals and six assists for the Tigers so far this season, and has long been regarded as one of the finest talents in the Championship.

Former Hammers star Dean Ashton was certainly impressed by the coup that his old team pulled off on Friday.

“I’m delighted with this signing!!,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account on Saturday.

“Great goal scoring record in last two seasons in the champ! Young, hungry, talented and a grafter! All the best Jarrod!”

Is Ashton’s optimism well-placed?

It is indeed. Bowen has been one of the very best players in the Championship for the last couple of years and has been linked with plenty of Premier League teams as a result.

He’s a top talent who should be able to make the step up to the top flight without too many difficulties.

Bowen should help club record signing Sebastien Haller, too, having the goalscoring and creativity necessary to ease the huge burden on the Frenchman’s shoulders.

In other West Ham news, the club were reportedly preparing to make a £3million loan bid for a Premier League striker.
