David Sullivan unhappy with big-money players at West Ham United
David Sullivan is unhappy with some of West Ham United’s expensive signings after a disappointing Premier League campaign, according to 90min.
West Ham signed Gianluca Scamacca and Lucas Paqueta for big fees in the summer of 2022. The Brazilian has taken a long time to adjust to the Premier League and Scamacca has been disappointing.
According to 90min on Wednesday 24 May, Sullivan has expressed his dissatisfaction over the club’s performances and the particular impact of some of the big-money additions.
It’s understood any director of football appointment will be made to take an element of control over which players are being targetted.
Big summer
There’s certainly a big summer in the offing for West Ham. Declan Rice looks almost certain to depart. Interest in the 24-year-old has emerged once again, with Bayern Munich the latest side to show credible interest in the England international. It’s clear that he will depart, it’s essential that West Ham replace him adequately.

If he is sold, West Ham will land a significant transfer fee. David Moyes looks likely to stay and it will be interesting to see if the board trust the Scot with another hefty war chest during the off-season. The signing of Paqueta has only just paid off and the jury is still out on Scamacca.
On paper, both players looked like excellent pickups. However, it’s not quite worked out the way we all expected. A central midfield is a must if Rice departs. Michail Antonio could also need replacing up front and another wide player wouldn’t go a miss at the London Stadium.
