David Sullivan likes Nuno Espirito Santo for West Ham job already as Graham Potter sack latest emerges

Graham Potter is in massive trouble as West Ham United manager.

West Ham lost 3-0 at home to bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, with Tomas Soucek also seeing red for a bad challenge on Joao Palhinha.

Potter has been under pressure since the start of the season, with Karren Brady and David Sullivan having to come out publicly to back the under-fire Englishman.

However, a run of six wins in 24 attempts could spell the beginning of the end for Potter, and Nuno Espirito Santo has emerged as a target.

West Ham are assessing whether to back Potter in the next transfer window, according to Alan Nixon.

He has reported that Nuno has gone on West Ham’s shortlist should the ex-Chelsea man continue to underperform.

Frank Lampard has also emerged as a strong candidate for the Hammers job after impressing at Coventry City.

Nuno has been a name admired by Sullivan, and he could push for an appointment should the Hammers decide to part ways with Potter.

The main issue with the Portuguese boss is his personal demands on having a say in terms of transfers, as well as the size of his backroom staff.

Graham Potter closing in on the West Ham trap door

Potter has endured a dismal spell since his appointment in January, and many will feel that his time is up.

Defeat to Tottenham sent the Hammers tumbling into the drop zone on goal difference, with a trip to Arsenal coming up in the next few weeks.

Nuno brought stability to Nottingham Forest to keep them in the Premier League before skyrocketing them into Europe in his first full season at the City Ground.

The 51-year-old’s sacking by Evangelos Marinakis has been viewed as extremely harsh by fans up and down the country, and West Ham would be getting a coup by appointing the former Wolverhampton Wanderers man.

There is no reason why Nuno cannot repeat his magic at the London Stadium to get the Hammers out of trouble, with Potter possibly on his final chance now.
