David Sullivan complication revealed as Nuno Espirito Santo still faces West Ham sack

David Sullivan has struggled to get anything right at West Ham United in several years now, and that only continues to happen.

West Ham were finally relegated from the Premier League on Sunday despite a 3-0 win over Leeds, something that had been years in the making.

Since the Conference League triumph and subsequent sacking of David Moyes, the Irons have only been going one way at the London Stadium.

Nuno Espirito Santo couldn’t stop the rot after the dreadful spells of Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter, and now he could pay the ultimate price.

It was even said that Nuno’s exit from West Ham could have been confirmed as early as Monday, but that failed to materialise.

West Ham crisis talks begin with Nuno

Nuno was summoned for crisis talks with Sullivan at his house on Bank Holiday Monday, but appeared to leave with nothing resolved.

With the Hammers heading for the Championship again, there is said to be a break clause on both sides to end their relationship early, with no payments needed.

The Times have now reported that Nuno left the talks on Monday with his future unresolved, but he could still be sacked within the next 48 hours.

That is when an announcement is expected.

It is said that the decision is complicated by Sullivan, and other decision makers may not share the same view on the best plan of action to move forward, yet.

What’s next at West Ham United?

So, with Nuno expected to be sacked, anything else would be a surprise and possible bonus in the Championship.

Scott Parker is the first possible name who could take over, and West Ham fans would love that, given his association with the Irons from his playing days.

Slaven Bilic is another who would tick that box, too, with the Croatian linked with several jobs in England over the past couple of years.

The possibility is Gary O’Neil, but it would be very strange if he were to leave Strasbourg behind for Championship football in England, regardless of it being West Ham.

Either way, the immediate future is very uncertain.

For many, it’s believed that Nuno will be moving on, but who takes over is a whole other question that will need sorting quickly ahead of a gruelling year in the Championship.
