Nuno Espirito Santo set to be sacked in West Ham United crisis talks

Nuno Espirito Santo refused to comment on his future at West Ham United after they were relegated from the Premier League on Sunday.

West Ham beat Leeds 3-0 at the London Stadium, but will play Championship football next season as Tottenham also picked up three points on the final day.

Nuno was frosty in his post-match press conference, and it appears that it could be his last.

David Sullivan left his seat early ahead of relegation being confirmed, and the inquest has already begun at the very highest level at Rush Green.

Everything will now be out in the open on Monday, with Nuno being summoned for crisis talks and what could come next at the London Stadium.

Nuno Espirito Santo could be sacked on Monday

Like with so many that have come before West Ham, the blame always lies on the manager for relegation, seemingly not the owners who have overseen it.

The Hammers do have a break clause with Nuno after relegation, meaning they can move on without the consequence of paying millions in compensation.

West Ham last three managers’ records

Matt Lawton of The Times has reported that Nuno has been summoned for crisis talks on Monday morning, with sources sharing that it will likely end with his dismissal.

It is said that Sullivan and other members of the board will be present, too.

Nuno’s three-year deal, signed back in September, was said to be worth £8million, including bonuses, but they won’t be seen with a fourth manager likely needed since the sacking of David Moyes.

Who could replace Nuno at West Ham?

It is easy to look too hard at why relegation actually happened, but now, everything is about gearing up to make sure West Ham return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

With poor financial losses already recorded, relegation only worsens them, so player sales will be absolutely crucial in this journey.

The Championship is unforgiving, just ask Leicester, who were relegated down to League One this season in their first season back at that level.

So, who could come in if Nuno goes?

The obvious choice will likely be Scott Parker, who left Burnley last month ahead of them being relegated to the Championship under Mike Jackson.

Parker has been there and done it in the Championship, securing promotion with Burnley, Fulham and Bournemouth during his managerial career.

Throw in his 129 appearances for the Hammers during his playing career, and this could easily become a match made in heaven for both at this time.

That being said, all eyes are on Nuno and these crisis talks as nothing has happened yet.
