David Moyes update emerges at West Ham United amid Julen Lopetegui exit speculation
Fabrizio Romano admits he has heard nothing about a potential West Ham United return for David Moyes.
Julen Lopetegui has come under pressure from supporters and pundits alike after a slow start to life at the London Stadium having replaced Moyes as the Hammers boss at the end of last season.
While some have suggested the Irons could turn to the Scotsman for a third time if they were to part ways with Lopetegui, transfer specialist Romano insists that the Hammers continue to support the Spanish manager.
Writing in his Daily Briefing (29 September) he said: “Despite West Ham’s struggles and talk of a possible return for David Moyes as manager, I have zero information on this – zero confirmation, nothing at all.
“West Ham as a club keep supporting Julen Lopetegui and waiting for better results after many player changes in the summer.
“I have no info on Moyes returning or any idea, discussion or contact so far.”
Will West Ham sack Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium?
Sections of the West Ham fanbase are beginning to lose patience with Lopetegui already at the London Stadium, but there don’t seem to be many supporters who are pinning for the return of Moyes at this stage.
The decision to let the Scotsman leave last summer was a bold one, but one that most fans could get behind as they felt there was a need for a change in the Hammers’ style of play to get back to the ‘West Ham way’.
While the appointment of Lopetegui doesn’t seem to have ticked that box so far, it would be a major mistake to turn to Moyes again having admitted only months ago that he wasn’t the right fit to take the Irons forward.

Hopefully, Romano hasn’t heard anything about a return for the Scotsman because there is no chance of it happening.
If the Hammers were to slip further into relegation trouble and need a change in the dugout to avoid the drop, only then would turning to Moyes for a third time be the right call.
