David Moyes shares West Ham United team news ahead of Premier League clash v Chelsea

West Ham United are set to be without five players for their Premier League clash against Chelsea at the London Stadium.

David Moyes has revealed (Football London, 10 February) that Thilo Kehrer has a “problem” after being forced off in the first half of the 1-1 draw against Newcastle United.

Gianluca Scamacca, Kurt Zouma, Maxwel Cornet and Alphonse Areola are long-term absentees from Moyes’ squad.

“Probably much the way we were at the weekend. Thilo is a problem, Thilo came off with an injury. I don’t think we’ve got any of the boys back from last week,” said the West Ham boss.

“Hopefully, they are on the way back and we will get them back for the second half of the season.”

Winnable

This is an extremely winnable game for the Hammers despite Chelsea’s immense spending power. Moyes’ men are coming off an impressive point against high-flying Newcastle and will fancy their chances against Graham Potter’s men.

Chelsea have endured a difficult period recently. There have been a number of new arrivals at Stamford Bridge and the West London club are having a couple of teething issues, particularly in attacking areas. Chelsea will be boosted by the return of Joao Felix, who is set to feature after his red card against Fulham.

Denis Zakaria is now also in contention to feature at the London Stadium. Three points at the weekend could be absolutely vital in West Ham’s battle against relegation, with Leeds facing off against Manchester United and Everton being involved in a Merseyside Derby on Monday evening (13 February).

With Tottenham and Manchester United also on the horizon, the next couple of weeks could well be season-defining.
