David Moyes shares update on West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd after injury
David Moyes says there is hope that Nayef Aguerd’s injury isn’t too bad after he was forced off during the friendly between West Ham and Rangers.
The Moroccan international limped off after several minutes of treatment at Ibrox following a last ditch tackle, where he made up for his own error that let Rangers through on goal.
The 26-year-old immediately signalled to the bench to come off, and boss Moyes revealed after the game that the full extent of the injury was not yet known.

“We’ve already had Nayef x-rayed and there’s no break in his ankle, which is good news,” he said, as quoted by journalist Toby Cudworth.
“It might be some ligaments, or he’s twisted his ankle – it blew up immediately so we have to hope it’s not a problem.”
Disaster
It was a pretty rubbish Tuesday all things considered for the Hammers, and Aguerd’s injury made it worse.
It looks like Jesse Lingard is heading elsewhere, and the team was well beaten by the Europa League semi-finalists 3-1 on the night at Ibrox, but Aguerd’s injury now could have a longer term affect on the club’s season.
Ligament injuries usually take around six weeks to recover from, but sometimes even longer and that would take the club past the transfer window deadline.

Moyes could be forced to make a decision on the future of Issa Diop, who was expected to leave, if the injury is severe to ensure that we aren’t left short of options.
If it’s more serious than that, the boss could be tempted to dip back into the market for another centre-back as cover which would take away from our budget for other positions. Far from ideal.
Hopefully it’s just a twist and West Ham can not worry about it for too long and not have it affect any other plans, but right now that seems highly unlikely and knowing our luck it’s probably best to expect the worst news possible.
