David Moyes shares Michail Antonio and Vladimir Coufal injury updates for West Ham United UECL clash v AZ
West Ham manager David Moyes has confirmed that both Michail Antonio and Vladimir Coufal have travelled to the Netherlands for the upcoming clash against AZ Alkmaar.
The Hammers take on the Eredivisie outfit in the Europa Conference League semi-final second leg on Thursday (18 May).
West Ham head into the game with an advantage having defeated AZ 2-1 at the London Stadium last Thursday with goals from Antonio and Said Benrahma.
“Mick has travelled and so has Vladimir,” said Moyes, as quoted by the official West Ham website. “They’re both doing well so hopefully they’re both in with a chance of playing.
“Everything else seems OK at the moment, so hopefully we’re in the clear.”
Massive boost
It’s a huge boost for Moyes to have both Antonio and Coufal in his matchday squad for the massive clash, in what is the club’s biggest game of the season so far.
That will, of course, all change should the Hammers reach the final of the competition, but all West Ham eyes are firmly fixed on the encounter in the Netherlands.
Moyes will need everyone fully fit and focused on the game, with the substitutes perhaps set to play an equally important role as the starters.
Coufal returns to the scene following three games out with a hamstring injury, and his presence at right-back will be crucial should he be deemed fit enough to start.
The potential return of Antonio is, however, that bit more important, with the striker able to have a huge impact on matches given his ability to score goals in the big games, most recently in the first leg against AZ.
