David Moyes sends bold message to West Ham United winger Said Benrahma

David Moyes has made it very clear that West Ham winger Said Benrahma needs to show more consistency.

Benrahma was superb on Monday night (24 October) as the Hammers registered a 2-0 win against Bournemouth where he netted his first goal of the season.

Moyes was really pleased with the effort, but at the same time, he has made it clear what he wants from him.

“Let’s be fair and honest, Saïd has not shown us enough of what he can do, but tonight he did, and I’m really pleased,” said Moyes to West Ham’s official website.

“Last year he got six or seven goals and six or seven assists, but his game has to be more consistent.

“I keep telling him, and I’m happy to say it here: he needs to have more consistency.

“But he’s a dribbler. He can make things happen. He commits people, which is something we don’t have, and I really like it, but what I want from is a good cross, I want a good pass or good finish.

“He has to hit the target more often because he creates himself opportunities, but I thought tonight he played well.”

Spot on

The Hammers returned to winning ways against the Cherries, although handball incidents dominated the headlines.

The Hammers were awarded a late penalty, from a handball which Benrahma converted from the spot.

The Algerian was looking really good in the last few games, where he tried to make an impact from the bench. He was really impressive with his cameo roles.

He was brilliant on Monday night, and this is what the fans expect from him – dribbles, crosses, goals, and assists.

The 27-year-old was brimming with confidence as he made five successful dribbles, and Moyes highlighted that he should be doing it on a regular basis.

For a player of his potential, he has managed only one goal and an assist so far. Clearly, the manager has made it clear that he hasn’t done enough.

Last season, he scored eight goals and provided six assists in the Premier League. He should be aiming to improve on that in the current campaign.
