David Moyes remains calm despite Declan Rice turning down another West Ham United contract

West Ham United boss David Moyes has insisted that everything is under control after Declan Rice turned down a third attempt to sign a new deal with the club.

The Hammers star is on the radar of English giants Manchester United and City, although no move is imminent [Daily Mail].

The West Ham skipper still has two years left on his current contract and Moyes believes that his refusal is “not unusual”.

“I’ve said it and I think we have said what we think,” he told the Evening Standard.

“We like Dec and he’s got three-and-a-half years to go on his contract so I don’t think there is any big panic.

“Maybe he just wants more money. People do turn down contracts. It is not unusual for players at clubs to turn down contracts, maybe it is a negotiation tactic.”

No panic?

There continues to be huge speculation of a summer move away from The London Stadium, but Rice’s £150million price tag could put off any potential suitors.

The England international would be a huge loss to West Ham, however, Moyes is adamant that he will not be selling the midfielder despite Rice turning down three contract offers.

The Hammers’ captain was involved at Stamford Bridge yesterday from the bench as the Chelsea fans had a brief glimpse of what they could have in the future.

It wasn’t to be for Rice and his side though as a 90th minute Christian Pulisic strike saw Chelsea secure a vital 1-0 victory.

Moyes’ men will need to pick themselves up and regroup now as they welcome Eintracht Frankfurt to The London Stadium on Thursday for the first leg of their Europa League semi-final.
