David Moyes raves about Ivan Toney ahead of West Ham v Brentford

David Moyes has showered heaps of praise on Ivan Toney ahead of West Ham’s Premier League clash against Brentford on Sunday at the London Stadium.

Brentford, the Premier League newcomers, have impressed heavily this season, having defeated Arsenal and Wolves already and drew 3-3 against Liverpool in their last match.

Moyes has suggested that he is impressed with the Bees so far but not surprised, adding they have been always a top team in the Championship.

Moyes has suggested that Toney has got “hunger and determination” to succeed and that he has got “terrific” abilities.

“He is someone who has looked very hungry to prove himself in the Premier League,” said Moyes, as quoted by Football.London.

“I think you’ve got that hunger and determination, it’s a big ingredient, you know sometimes having the ability is terrific, but I think having those characteristics gives you a real chance to succeed.

“Ivan Toney has done really really well since he’s come into the Premier League. But again, we shouldn’t be surprised because he was successful and did a really good job in the Championship.”

Should West Ham target Toney?

The 25-year-old has impressed heavily so far, managing two goals and two assists in six Premier League appearances.

West Ham reportedly showed interest in signing Toney during the summer [The Sun], even before Brentford secured their promotion.

Moyes was keen to beef up the striker options at the club and had earmarked the £35m-rated forward.

However, the Hammers didn’t make any concrete effort to sign the striker in the end. Probably, the Irons were sceptical about how he would fare.

West Ham eventually failed to sign a striker this summer, but Moyes could look to bolster his forward department in January.

Having seen Toney shinning in the Premier League, it won’t be a bad move if West Ham make an approach to sign him in January.
