David Moyes must ensure he adds more additions to West Ham United defence
Issa Diop looks set to depart West Ham United with Fulham interest in the 25-year-old defender – and if the Frenchman does leave the club then Moyes must bolster his defence again.
The Athletic has suggested that Fulham have tabled a second bid for the West Ham man worth £12million plus add-ons.
However, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has suggested (7 July) that the Irons are looking for £20million for the defender.
If the Hammers can receive £20million for Diop, then David Moyes must reinvest the money back into his squad and more specifically into his defence.
Towards the back end of last season, the Hammers were fragile defensively due to being overplayed and poor form.
West Ham will be left with four centre halves if Diop departs.
Angelo Ogbonna was crippled by injury last season and Craig Dawson cannot be expected to repeat his heroics from the 2021/22 season.
Another solid defensive addition would allow Moyes to rotate and also improve the quality of his backline, which was ultimately the Hammers’ downfall last season.

£20million would be a cracking piece of business by the club hierarchy with the 25-year-old entering the final year of his contract.
That money would help Moyes massively in his attempts to reshape his Hammers squad heading into next season.
It is clear that attacking signings will boost excitement around the London Stadium, but it is also important that the West Ham boss doesn’t forget where his side’s problems lie at present.
The Hammers will be looking to finalise Diop’s exit as soon as possible so that they can utilise the incoming transfer fee.
