David Moyes could quit West Ham United as new contract development emerges from London Stadium
David Moyes could be set to exit London Stadium at the end of the season, with no sign of the manager putting pen to paper on a new West Ham deal right now, according to The Telegraph.
The newspaper reported via its website [11 February] that the Scot “keeps his own counsel”, suggesting that walking away from his post at the end of his current contract is not an unreasonable prediction.
It is understood that, despite his recent successes with the Hammers, Moyes feels underappreciated by some of the fans amid concerns over his team’s style of football.
Writing for The Telegraph, Jason Burt wrote: “There has previously, within the club, been a feeling that Moyes keeps his own counsel and can be hard to read and might even walk when his contract expires.
“That has always been played down but it is undeniably a curious relationship he endures with the fans. Moyes, whose current deal expires in just over four months’ time, may well deny it but at the heart of it appears to be the sense that despite his achievements he feels underappreciated by some of the club’s supporters.”
David Moyes feels unappreciated at West Ham
There is certainly a lot of noise around Moyes’ chances of signing an extension at London Stadium, especially with the amount of criticism he has received despite sitting eighth in the Premier League and in with a shot at Europa League success.
After a number of difficult years at West Ham, it seems silly not to tie Moyes down to a new contract, even with slightly less attractive football being played.
Those same fans will complain about the way Pep Guardiola and Manchester City play, mainly due to their dominance on the ball and huge amounts of possession. The Hammers are at the opposite end of the scale, but it has been producing results, nevertheless.

The arsenal of attacking players at London Stadium means that Moyes’ team is built for counter-attacking football, whether the fans want that or not. The pace of Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus is key, and the creativity of Lucas Paqueta and James Ward-Prowse are the ones supplying the service.
The grass is not always greener on the other side – a phrase that West Ham fans need to remember. It could be decades until West Ham win another piece of silverware, just like how they waited to lift the Europa Conference League in Prague, Czechia.
