David Moyes confirms two fresh injuries ahead of West Ham United v Brighton

David Moyes has revealed West Ham United have picked up “one or two” fresh injuries in the lead-up to their Premier League clash against Brighton.

Kurt Zouma, Maxwel Cornet and Lukasz Fabianski all missed the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United on Wednesday evening.

The West Ham boss has since shared an update on the current injury situation at the London Stadium.

“Kurt Zouma is doing better, Maxi is coming on, we’ll see how he is today. We’ve picked up one or two injuries in the week and we’ll just have to see where they are,” said Moyes (Football London, 3 March).

Time for change

Saturday is the time for West Ham to finally break their Premier League duck against Brighton. The Seagulls have proven to be an impenetrable force against the Hammers in recent years and were responsible for the Irons missing out on Europa League qualification in the 2021/22 campaign.

Moyes will be hoping to build on the impressive 4-0 romp over Nottingham Forest. The City Ground side were blown away by an imperious second-half performance which has been a long time coming. West Ham could pull five points clear of the bottom three with a win in Sussex.

It’s such a closely contested battle at the bottom of the Premier League, which means back-to-back wins could easily pull a team away from the bottom three.

The sooner West Ham’s Premier League safety is secured, the better. There’s still a golden chance at some silverware in the Conference League, so being involved in a long-winded relegation battle is far from ideal.
