David Moves gives update on West Ham duo Kurt Zouma & Issa Diop

West Ham boss David Moyes has shared the latest injury news on key centre-back duo Kurt Zouma and Issa Diop.

The Hammers are set to be without both defenders for a prolonged period ahead of their Europa League semi-final clash against Eintracht Frankfurt in the week.

Ahead of the Irons’ London derby clash at Stamford Bridge on Sunday [April 24], the Scot shed light on their injuries.

Zouma’s 19th minute header cancelled out Spurs’ early opener and ensured a point for West Ham.

He said in his pre-Chelsea press conference: “I’m not going to put timescales on it.

“Issa has an injury and Kurt has an injury, we’re not putting timescales on it because you always want to get them back quicker. Hopefully, we can get them back as quick as we can.”

Rotten luck.

The fact that West Ham will most likely be without three of the four senior centre-backs in the squad in the final stages of the season is sickeningly unlucky.

It isn’t often that the Hammers are in a European semi-final with the clear ambition to go on and win the competition which makes their latest injury crisis much worse.

As far as many Irons fans are concerned, the Premier League doesn’t matter anymore.

West Ham

For pride reasons they obviously don’t want to be made a mockery out of at Stamford Bridge on the weekend but if they go on to beat Eintracht Frankfurt in the week, nobody would care what happens against the Blues.

They need to be very cautious in not letting Wolves usurp them in seventh whilst gaining the last European football spot up for grabs.

But that isn’t their main priority with it being a Europa Conference League place up for grabs.

If Moyes’ side wins their three remaining Europa League games not only do they lift the trophy, they secure Champions League football for next season – that needs to be the only target.
