Darren Lewis: West Ham United indecisiveness in transfer market is costing them points
The Mirror’s Darren Lewis believes that West Ham United’s lack of decisiveness in the transfer market is costing them dearly in the early part of the Premier League season.
David Moyes’ side suffered their third defeat of the campaign at the hands of Brighton on Sunday (21 August) as the Hammers still search for their first points of the season.
Lewis believes that the Irons look stale and that the club’s slow transfer business is costing them.

Talking on the talkSPORT GameDay Podcast [19:00, 22 August], Lewis said: “The team don’t look fresh and look a little bit stale when compared to other clubs at the moment.
“Looking at the top-six, a lot of teams have plenty of fresh faces whilst West Ham still look very stale.
“I think there will be more signings and a drastic change all over the pitch in their next match against Villa.
“You look at Nottingham Forest and they have been so decisive in their transfer business and decision making.
“I felt that West Ham could have easily done a deal for Emmanuel Dennis for Watford striker, who would’ve given them depth in their forward line.
“At the moment West Ham are far too predictable and this end-of-season wait for signings to become available is costing them points.”
Big couple of weeks
It has been a successful window at the London Stadium, but ultimately, the club are sometimes painfully slow at getting deals over the line and completed.
Emerson Palmieri’s move to West Ham is the latest deal that has gone back and forward far too much.
Moyes is clearly being backed by the board and he needs to be far more clinical and concise in the business that he undertakes for the rest of the transfer window.
Emerson is reportedly close to joining the Hammers as revealed by The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano (via Twitter, 23 August).

The Chelsea left-back will prove to be a solid option for Moyes, with the 28-year-old having experience from a range of clubs across Europe.
Another area for Moyes to target is the centre of midfield, with Flynn Downes struggling to settle in a West Ham shirt and Tomas Soucek really struggling for form in the early part of the campaign.
Hammers fans will be desperate for the club to be proactive in the remaining days of the window and for Moyes to arrest their awful start to the season.
